Manali Zipline Mishap: 12-Year-Old Girl Falls Midway, Escapes Serious Injury

Manali, Himachal Pradesh – June 15, 2025:

A 12-year-old girl narrowly escaped a major tragedy after falling from a zipline at a popular adventure park in Manali on Sunday afternoon. The incident, which shocked onlookers, has once again raised questions about the safety standards of adventure sports in the region.

According to eyewitnesses, the young tourist was midway through the zipline ride when she suddenly slipped from the harness and fell approximately 15 feet. Quick action from the ground staff and fortunate cushioning from a patch of soft vegetation helped prevent critical injuries.

The girl sustained bruises and minor injuries and was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for a thorough check-up. Doctors confirmed that she is out of danger and recovering under observation.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the harness may not have been secured properly, though authorities are yet to release an official statement. The zipline operator has temporarily shut down the ride as the local administration and tourism department begin an inquiry into the incident.

Manali, known for its adventure tourism, attracts thousands of visitors every year. However, this incident has sparked concerns among tourists and locals alike. “Safety protocols need to be non-negotiable. It could have ended very differently,” said one tourist who witnessed the fall.

The Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department has urged all adventure activity providers to conduct immediate safety audits and ensure strict compliance with operational guidelines. Meanwhile, the operator involved in the incident may face legal consequences if negligence is proven.

This is not the first such mishap in the area. In recent years, there have been several reports of minor accidents during paragliding, river rafting, and other high-risk activities, prompting calls for stricter regulation.

As the tourist season peaks, families visiting hill stations are advised to remain vigilant and only opt for certified adventure operators with well-maintained equipment and trained personnel.
