Voices of Change: JSLPS Women Take to Rajmahal Streets Against Drug Abuse

Rajmahal, Sahibganj | June 20, 2025:
In an inspiring show of community strength and leadership, the empowered women of Sakhi Mandal, under the banner of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS), took to the streets of Rajmahal block, Sahibganj, to lead a vibrant awareness rally as part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (Drug-Free India Campaign). With slogans, placards, and unwavering determination, these women became the voice of a movement urging society to rise against the growing threat of drug abuse and addiction. Their rally served not just as a campaign—but a call to action for a healthier, safer, and more conscious future.

Rajmahal Women Raise Their Voice: Say No to Drugs, Yes to a Safer Society

Carrying vibrant placards and raising spirited slogans, dozens of women marched through the main lanes of Rajmahal, spreading a strong message against substance abuse. The initiative, supported by JSLPS and local administration, is part of a broader effort to involve rural women in community leadership and social reform.

“Addiction is destroying many families silently. As women and mothers, we must protect our homes and society from this danger,” said one of the leading members of the Sakhi Mandal, addressing the gathering during a post-rally interaction.

The women’s group emphasized the urgent need for awareness and de-addiction support in rural and tribal communities, where substance use has increasingly become a hidden crisis. The rally was aimed not only at educating the public but also at encouraging community-level vigilance and early intervention.

Local block officials, police personnel, and representatives from the District Nasha Mukti Kendra were also present to support the campaign. Leaflets with helpline numbers and de-addiction resources were distributed to onlookers.

The rally saw participation from various self-help groups (SHGs), who have been actively engaged in livelihood programs but are now being trained as social change agents under the JSLPS framework.

With banners reading “Nasha Mukti Se Samaj Ki Shakti” and “Swasth Samaaj, Nasha Mukt Samaaj”, the Sakhi Mandal women reinforced the message that a drug-free society begins at home—with awareness, responsibility, and collective action.
