Howrah: A major fire broke out at a tyre manufacturing godown in the Pakuriya area of Salap along National Highway 16 in Howrah on Sunday, triggering a large-scale firefighting operation. Thick plumes of smoke were seen rising from the site as flames quickly spread across the godown, causing panic among locals and commuters on the busy highway.
Two fire tenders from the Howrah Fire Station were immediately deployed to the spot to control the blaze. Personnel from the Nibra Traffic Guard and Domjur Police Station also joined the operation to manage traffic and assist emergency responders. Officials confirmed that a crane parked near the godown along NH-16 was completely gutted in the fire.

Local MLA Kalyan Ghosh visited the incident site to assess the situation and review the extent of damage. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, while firefighting teams continued efforts to fully bring the blaze under control.
